…Hello, October!

Fall is here! And it’s one of my favorite seasons. I love going to the pumpkin patch and picking out that perfect pumpkin. I love decorating… and of course, who doesn’t love the nice, cool weather?

It’s time to say “Goodbye” to September, and “Hello” to October! Last month was my birthday, as well as my son’s and mother’s birthday, so it was a pretty fun month. I’m hoping October will be just as great, just not as busy!

I don’t think I’m going to post a huge TBR list this month (I think I jinxed myself in September lol), but I am going to update you all on a few of the books I’m currently reading and planning to read, as well as the challenges I’ll be participating in this month.

Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone…

A convict with a thirst for revenge.

A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager.

A runaway with a privileged past.

A spy known as the Wraith.

A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.

A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.

Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first.

25788284The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine

Lorelai Diederich, crown princess and fugitive at large, has one mission: kill the wicked queen who took both the Ravenspire throne and the life of her father. To do that, Lorelai needs to use the one weapon she and Queen Irina have in common—magic. She’ll have to be stronger, faster, and more powerful than Irina, the most dangerous sorceress Ravenspire has ever seen.

In the neighboring kingdom of Eldr, when Prince Kol’s father and older brother are killed by an invading army of magic-wielding ogres, the second-born prince is suddenly given the responsibility of saving his kingdom. To do that, Kol needs magic—and the only way to get it is to make a deal with the queen of Ravenspire, promise to become her personal huntsman…and bring her Lorelai’s heart.

But Lorelai is nothing like Kol expected—beautiful, fierce, and unstoppable—and despite dark magic, Lorelai is drawn in by the passionate and troubled king. Fighting to stay one step ahead of the dragon huntsman—who she likes far more than she should—Lorelai does everything in her power to ruin the wicked queen. But Irina isn’t going down without a fight, and her final move may cost the princess the one thing she still has left to lose.

27133441Emerald Bound by Teresa Richards

A princess, a pea, and a tower of mattresses. This is the sliver that survives of a story more nightmare than fairytale… Maggie Rhodes, high school junior and semi-reformed stalker, learns the tale’s true roots after a spying attempt goes awry and her best friend Kate ends up as the victim of an ancient curse. At the center of the curse lies an enchanted emerald that has been residing quietly in a museum for the past fifty years. Admirers of the gem have no idea that it feeds on life. Or that it’s found its next victim in Kate. Enter Lindy, a school acquaintance who knows more than she’s letting on, and Garon, a handsome stranger claiming he knows how to help, and Maggie is left wondering who to trust and how to save her best friend before it’s too late. If only Maggie knew her connection to the fairy tale was rooted far deeper than an endangered best friend.

24921954The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee

A thousand-story tower stretching into the sky. A glittering vision of the future where anything is possible—if you want it enough.

A hundred years in the future, New York is a city of innovation and dreams. Everyone there wants something…and everyone has something to lose.

LEDA COLE’s flawless exterior belies a secret addiction—to a drug she never should have tried and a boy she never should have touched.

ERIS DODD-RADSON’s beautiful, carefree life falls to pieces when a heartbreaking betrayal tears her family apart.

RYLIN MYERS’s job on one of the highest floors sweeps her into a world—and a romance—she never imagined…but will this new life cost Rylin her old one?

WATT BAKRADI is a tech genius with a secret: he knows everything about everyone. But when he’s hired to spy for an upper-floor girl, he finds himself caught up in a complicated web of lies.

And living above everyone else on the thousandth floor is AVERY FULLER, the girl genetically designed to be perfect. The girl who seems to have it all—yet is tormented by the one thing she can never have.

Amid breathtaking advancement and high-tech luxury, five teenagers struggle to find their place at the top of the world. But when you’re this high up, there’s nowhere to go but down….

    1. I’m enjoying Six of Crows so far, but I’m only a few chapters in. I am also a few chapters in The Shadow Queen and I am REALLY loving that book!! It’s so magical and fantastic. I love the descriptions in it. I’ll definitely be writing a review on all three books (Six of Crows, The Shadow Queen, and The Thousandth Floor.) So later in the month be looking for my review on The Thousandth Floor. I’ve been pretty anxious to read it, so I’m hoping I won’t be disappointed!

  1. Some of the books you have on your TBR sound really interesting! I’ve yet to hear of the Thousandth Floor, but it almost sounds a little bit like Uglies by Scott Westerfield. Is it an ARC or is it available now?

Also, regarding Fall Bookish Bingo, is it too late to join up or can I get involved now? I think it’d be a great motivator to crush more books!

    1. The Thousandth Floor is available now! And I can’t wait to read it! Yes, you can still join Fall Bingo! Definitely. The first link I posted for it is where you go sign up by leaving a comment. And it’ll give you all the info you need to know. 🙂 Good luck! I hope you join in!

  2. Great TBR! Can’t wait to hear about what you think about Six of Crows! ❤ Those are great challenges, too! I'm part of the Blogger Positivity movement, too and it's been going well so far 😀 The Fall Bookish Bingo seems fun. I think I might try to sign up!

  3. I’ve had Shadow Queen on Kindle for 6 months and still haven’t read it. 😂 I love that cover though. I bought it for that cover alone. Now I wish I had bought a paper copy to look pretty on my shelf. I’m loving Six of Crows. I don’t think I would’ve started it this month if we weren’t doing the buddy read. I’m not reading it very fast though. I have way too many books on my TBR this month. Who adds 12 books in one month? I’m crazy and determined. I have no idea how I’m reading them all, but I will finish Six of Crows I’m hoping by next week. I really like Kaz. 🙂

    1. The cover for Shadow Queen is what attracted me to it too. And I’m really enjoying it. It’s so magical and descriptive. I probably wouldn’t have gotten around to Six of Crows this month either had it not been for our buddy read!! I am so glad we’re reading it together. And I’m also reading it slow, so that works out perfect. I’ve just got so much going on around me in RL, it’s been hard for me to find a whole lot of time to read. But when I do sit down to read, I pick up Six of Crows. It’s number one for me right now, and I’m setting the others to the side until we finish it. 😉

      1. Yeah, I’m glad we’re reading it, too! It really gave me that push. I’m on page 81 now and really loving it. I think I have a tiny crush on Kaz. Haha! 🙂 He reminds me of a young Danny Ocean mixed with Michael Corleone. I love it! Read it at whatever pace you want. There’s no rush. It’s a big book. I have lots of those to read. 😂 I know what you mean. My shopping container from Philly comes today, and I’ll be unloading and getting all my stuff together this weekend. I’m trying to read at night, but then I get tired. 😴

  5. I was just about to ask about Bingo haha. I am pretty curious about The Thousandth Floor. I was under the impression originally that this was something entirely different. I may wait until your review. You have a lot going on this month! Go you 🙂

  6. Happy belated birthday to you and your family! You’ve got some really great books lined up (meaning I’ve been procrastinating them 😭). Enjoy and good luck on your challenges!
