Thankful Someone Recommended Me… | Hype or Like Friday

hype-or-like-friday-1

I haven’t stuck with my blog schedule lately, so I haven’t been participating in this group weekly like I had planned and hoped. But I had the time today, so I’m here with another Hype or Like Friday post!

Hype or Like Friday is a Goodreads group created by Jill @ Rant and Rave About BooksLarkin @ Wonderfilled Reads, and Britt @ Geronimo Reads where we select and read a book each month that is considered a “hyped” book. There are discussions held each Friday throughout the month, and on the last Friday you will post your review on that months book. But instead of a star rating, you will say whether you “like it” or “hype it”!

November’s theme is “All About What We’re Thankful For” and November’s Book is Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake, a book I’ve wanted to read for a while now. (PS: My review on Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, October’s Book, will be posted soon. So sorry for the delay.) Ok, people… on to the discussion!

Today’s discussion topic is: I’m Thankful Someone Recommended Me…

Many of the books I read are books that have been recommended to me by friends, family, or other bloggers. So my list could go on for a long time, if I wanted it to. But I think I’ll just list three books for now…

thankful-someone-recommended-me

The Firm by John Grisham :: I was recommended this book by a good guy friend of mine and when he mentioned it to me, I was sure I wouldn’t like it. But he kept insisting that I read it so I finally did. And I loved it! I’m not a huge fan of legal thrillers, but this one was great. I ended up watching the movie and was pretty upset because there were so many changes made, it almost wasn’t even the same story. If you like legal thrillers, or even if you don’t, I think you would really like this one.

The Lake House by Kate Morton :: I was recommended this book through my Goodreads group Stress Free Reading Challenges when it was nominated as May’s Book of the Month. I do like Historical Fiction and the twist ending was so unexpected! Highly recommend this one!

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo :: Ok… honestly, I was recommended this book by literally everyone I know. I was pretty sure I was the only one who hadn’t read it yet, but luckily I wasn’t. So my good friend Jill @ Rant and Rave About Books and I decided to buddy read this one together and we both really enjoyed it. You can check out her review by clicking the link. Her blog is great! Go check her out! We loved this book so much, that we’ll be buddy reading the next book, Crooked Kingdom, along with our blogger buddies Lilly @ Lair of Books and Melissa @ Book Nerd Momo. So definitely be on the lookout for that. We’re so excited and anticipating November 17 so we can continue on with this amazing series!!

  1. I love it when people recommend books to me and I enjoy them as much as they do. I recommend Six of Crows to literally everyone because it’s such an awesome duology. I hope you love Crooked Kingdom as much as you liked Six of Crows!

  2. I haven’t read Six of Crows yet! You are not the last one! I actually though the Grisha books were good but not great, which has contributed to my hesitancy. But maybe Six of Crows is better?

  5. Thanks for the shout out, Megan! ❤️ I can’t wait for our buddy read. I know Lilly and Melissa are also pumped for it. Prepare yourself for lots of Twitter fangirling. 😍 Is it November 17th yet? LOL 🙂 The Firm is an amazing book! 🙌 I’m a mega John Grisham fan. It’s crazy that I haven’t reviewed any of his books on my blog yet because I’ve read almost every book he’s ever written and The Firm… Wow! That ending was brilliant! 🙌👍

  6. Jill recommended me The Firm as I’m a massive legal thriller fan, I’ve only heard good things about this one, I can’t wait to dive in it!
Haha, Six of Crows is literally recommended by everyone to everyone! That’s what makes the book weird to me! Still I’m planning on reading it before the end of the year, I want to see what the fuss is about!

  7. The Lake House and Six of Crows have been on the TBR FOREVER!!! I adore Kate Morton, that woman can do no wrong in my eyes. I’ve read The Distand Hours and The Forgotten Garden. I can’t wait to read ALL of her books. I am 100% reading Six of Crows in December because I simply cannot take it anymore!
