The Joy of Christmas Tag

With Christmas just a few days away, what better time to do the Joy of Christmas Tag than right now? This tag was created by booktuber Sam @ Sam’s Nonsense and I was tagged by the lovely Michelle @ Book Adventures! So let’s spread some Christmas cheer!

I really can’t wait to get my hands on these books! They all have such beautiful covers and sound so interesting.

One of my favorite authors is V.E. Schwab. Her work is absolutely magnificent. She’s a total genius and has such a way with words and creating such unique worlds and characters. If you haven’t read any of her work, you MUST do so as soon as humanly possible.

So since I had promised myself before I created this post that I wouldn’t mention Harry Potter, I’m gonna go with V.E. Schwab’s A Darker Shade of Magic. As I said in the previous prompt, she has created such a unique world in this series and I’m looking forward to reading book three very soon!

I haven’t read many classics, which is something I’d like to start working on soon. But from the classics I have read, I’d say my favorite is George Orwell’s Animal Farm. It was a quick, fun read with a lot of meaning behind it. As for a classic I’ve always wanted to read, I’d go with another George Orwell novel, 1984. I have heard nothing but good things about it and I hope to read it someday soon.

Honestly, I would love to receive any books for Christmas! I will read just about anything. But if I had to choose, I’d send you back to prompt one and tell you I’d like you to preorder me any of those three books I listed! Or A Conjouring of Light by V.E. Schwab.

Oh, wow. This is a tough one… since I don’t really read “warm and fuzzy”. And remember, I said I wasn’t going to mention Harry Potter. If I say Harry Potter because it makes me think of my childhood, which makes me feel warm and fuzzy, then I’d be breaking my promise. And I can’t do that, can I? Or can I…

Although I didn’t like Red Queen at all, I still really love that cover! The blood dripping off the crown… gorgeous. I’ve yet to read either Carve the Mark or Sword and Verse, but am way attracted to both their covers. Hopefully I’ll finally be able to get to Sword and Verse soon… and as for Carve the Mark, it’ll be released in January, so hoping to get to it then!

Gosh. I love everything about Christmas! Like, literally everything. If you’re interested in some of my favorite things about Christmas, check out a guest post I did for a fellow blogger. You can find it HERE.

That was a fun tag! It definitely helped get me in the Christmas spirit (not that I wasn’t already, of course). 😉 I will tag a few people, seeing as it’s so close to Christmas. But if you want to do this tag and I haven’t tagged you, please feel free!

  1. Stop everything and go read 1984! I think it was the very first book I reviewed on the blog ironically haha. Well maybe wait until after the holidays (because man is it bleak and depressing, but for the right reasons) then read it! I would love to hear your thoughts on it! And I agree, Animal Farm is great. Love the tag Megan ❤

  3. Empress of a Thousand Skies has such a beautiful cover! And VE Schwab’s Shades of Magic series is probably my Harry Potter – I try not to mention it whenever I do bookish tags and always seem unable to bc it was just SO GOOD.

Have a lovely Christmas, Megan. ❤️

  4. I’m definitely waiting on Carve the Mark, too! I couldn’t get through the Divergent trilogy but I’m hoping I’ll enjoy this new one. And I really must read something by V.E. Schwab. So many people are singing her praises. I’m not sure which book to start with though! A Darker Shade of Magic, Vicious, or This Savage Song XD And I agree. All those covers are flawless. Great post, Megan!! ❤

    1. Thanks, Azia! I haven’t even read Divergent yet, but still wanna read Carve the Mark. You absolutely need to try some V.E. Schwab! A Darker Shade of Magic is one of my favorite books/series, so I would recommend that one! Happy Holidays! ❄️🎄

  5. I really need to hurry about and read some of V.E. Schwab’s books. SOM is actually top on my list for next year. I’m waiting for the last book to be published before I read them because people have warned me that the second book ends in a cliffhanger 😂. Also, I’m extremely excited for Carve the Mark too. Great answers, Megan. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!! 💕😊

  6. Ahh I’m also looking forward for Empress of a Thousand Skies and Carve the Mark! .< also yes to Schwab and Shades of Magic! The world building was just perfection and in fact ALL Schwab's books have flawless world building. If you haven't read her other books you definitely should 😛

  7. I’m totally excited for Carve The Mark too, I think (and hope) that it’s going to be absolutely wonderful 😊 I have not read a single book by V.E. Schwab, but I’m definitely planning on reading loads of books by her in 2017 😊

  8. I recently got to meet Victoria Schwab for the first time in Charleston at Yallfest. Oh my goodness, she’s so lovely! And, of course, her books are as fab as she is. I adored A Gathering of Shadows; I really can’t wait for A Conjuring of Light’s release.

  9. Haven’t been by your blog in awhile. I didn’t feel so great in December. So glad to learn of new book titles from your post. I haven’t read any books from Veronica Roth yet but I do like that cover. The one with the snake, I’ll pass on that because it scares me haha.. I so need to read VE Schwab’s books this year 🙂 I like many of your answers!

    1. Thanks, Jasmine! I’ve been absent for a couple weeks due to the holidays, but I’m finally back!! I’ve missed you guys! I haven’t read anything by Veronica Roth yet either, so I’m hoping I’ll enjoy Carve the Mark. And yes! You do need to read some V.E. Schwab soon. She’s amazing! Thanks for stopping by!
