I’m Actually Alive!! // A life update after a super long hiatus

Well, hello there, friends!!

I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve actually sat down and typed up a post. I honestly feel like I don’t know where to start. I’ve missed out on so much! I even missed my one year blogiversary! How crazy? Although I know I don’t need to apologize for not being around lately… I still want to! So if you’re ready… sit back, grab a cup of coffee, and prepare for a semi-long rant/post. First, let’s get into…

what ive been doing

So during the last few months, I’ve had lots of stuff going on. I mean a WHOLE LOTS. The main reasons I’ve been MIA from the blogosphere are:

  1. No laptop
  2. Bookstagram
  3. I started my own business
  4. I have just been totally, extremely busy

I could sit and rant for hours about a couple of these points,  buuuut…. I won’t. Ok… maybe I’ll rant just a little bit?

no laptop

Ah, yes. The most frustrating of them all. Having no laptop seriously feels like being stuck on a deserted island with literally nothing. Especially when you can’t blog. Yeah… I had my phone, but anyone who has the WordPress app knows that it stinks and is horrible when it comes to trying to create a new post on it. But my sweet baby MacBook is back in my arms again… thus, here I am! 🙂

booksta

Some of you who know me well, know that I’ve been working on upping my bookstagram game. I started doing well for a while… but ended up focusing so much of my time on taking bookish photos, that I literally had time for nothing else. I started repping for some bookish companies, and that requires a certain amount of photos per week. So yeah… bookstagram became my main priority for a while. It still is a huge part of my life, but not to the point that it was before.

business

That’s right, ladies and gents! I finally did it! Starting my own bookish candle shop has been a dream of mine for quite some time. A dream that I honestly didn’t think was possible. I can’t believe I actually did it! It took a lot of time, effort, and hard work to get my company up and running… which in turn made me set a lot of things aside, including reading (unfortunately). But I have more info on my shop in another post. For now, if you’re interested in checking the shop out, you can do so here: Pink Cloud Candles. Or you can check out the shop’s Instagram page here: @pinkcloudcandles. In case you’re curious… here are just a couple of the candles I’ve created:

(On the left is my Mermaid Shimmer candle. You have the option to choose from a list of different color glitter, and it smells like vanilla cupcakes! The candle on the right is my Dreamcatcher candle, exclusive to my November candle box “Running Down a Dream”. Check out the shop’s website for details on how you can purchase your box before they’re sold out!)

busy

Other than no laptop, being extremely busy played a huge part in why I abandoned blogging for a while. Starting your own business can be very time consuming. Not just starting it, but maintaining it. Keeping up with new ideas and products… keeping the products made, orders shipping out, etc. It can definitely become stressful at times. But… this is even more of a reason why I need blogging back in my life. Blogging is something that I love… something that I find as a stress relief of sorts. And even when I’m super busy like I have been, I need to remember that I can always make time to blog and blog hop!

Well, my loves. That’s about it. I just wanted to stop by and say hi… and explain my little hiatus a bit. For those of you who are reading this… thank you for stopping by and remembering little ol’ me! Be prepared for me to spam your blogs with likes and comments, and spam your readers with posts!

Cuz the BOOKSLAYER is back! And I’ve missed y’all!

So tell me… what have y’all been up to?

    1. Thank you! And omg, I’m so happy that y’all have kept the Standalone Sunday’s going! Being without a computer sucks. I had every intention of coming back with a Standalone Sunday as my first post yesterday, but I was just way too busy, and too tired by the end of the day. I’ll definitely be checking in on all of your SS’s and participating this week!! 🙂

  1. I’m so damn happy you’re back!! I’ve missed seeing your posts in my reader. I have no laptop right now either because my charger completely stopped working, and I had all these posts planned for the week too.

  2. Ohhh welcome back, so glad to see you again on my feed! It sounds like you’ve been pretty busy, but MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS on that business of yours, it is such an adventure. I hope to be able to buy one of your bookish candles someday, in the meantime, they already LOOK so adorable! ❤ ❤ Eager to hear from you again and read more of your blog posts. ❤

    1. Thanks so much!! It’s been so time consuming opening and keeping up with the growing business so I’m hoping to ease my way back into blogging! I’m actually hosting a rep search on the shop page right now, if you’re interested in entering! The instagram is @pinkcloudcandles and you can find the search post there!

    1. Hi!! And yes! I had intended to return to blogging regularly, but some personal things happened and I also have been having to focus most of my attention on my bookish candle business. Getting orders/boxes out, making candles, designing labels, promoting, marketing, finances… so many aspects of starting and running a business and it’s all so very time consuming. To answer your question… no. I haven’t given up on blogging just yet! I’m hoping to have a new post up soon and I have written a couple reviews that need to be typed up into a post! So those should be up soon. I absolutely love blogging, so at this point, the extended hiatus pulled me away for a while, but I’m not ready to give it up entirely! Thank you so much for checking in with me! I hope all is well!
